Happy Saturday of Marathon Weekend!

Tomorrow, we storm the streets of Los Angeles

Happy Saturday, friends. I promise after today, I’ll stop talking about running. Because tomorrow — that’s Sunday, March 17 — Chris and I are taking part in the Los Angeles Marathon. This will be my second marathon and his seventh; we did LA together last year to commemorate my 50th birthday. We look surprisingly perky in this picture, given that we’d almost run 26 miles at this point.

Cheeseburgers await these people.

One of my South Bay Running Club coaches — who just completed the Antarctica Marathon (!!!) — says no one ever does two marathons. Either you do one, or you do them all. Not sure how many more I’ll have in me after this, but I’m excited to get back on the streets with my husband and tens of thousands of other crazy people and try to improve my time. Wish us luck.

Gettin’ spicy with Timmy.

As for movies — the real reason you’re here — we had a great live spoiler discussion this week about “Dune: Part Two.” Now that the Academy Awards are over, we found time to turn our attention back to Arrakis. We got into all the twists and turns we couldn’t explore in our spoiler-free review. And we looked ahead to what might happen in a third “Dune” film from Denis Villeneuve, which we know is coming, if only to give Anya Taylor-Joy more to do. What did you think of the epic sequel? Check out our spoiler chat and let us know!

The Lohanaissance continues, and we’re here for it.

Alonso and I also reviewed the new Lindsay Lohan romantic comedy “Irish Wish,” which surprisingly is not terrible. Lohan follows up “Falling for Christmas” with another holiday-themed Netflix movie, just in time for St. Patrick’s Day. Here, she travels to Ireland to watch her best friend marry the man of her dreams, but when she makes a wish and becomes the bride instead, it doesn’t exactly turn out the way she expected. It’s a Hallmark movie with better production values, and the likable Lohan’s comic timing remains sharp as ever. Now streaming.

Plus, we did our weekly Movie News LIVE! segment, which included Oscar follow-ups, new movies from Yorgos Lanthimos and Ari Aster (which both happen to star Emma Stone), a look ahead to “The Bear” seasons 3 and 4 (which are shooting back-to-back) and more. And as always, if you’d like to hang out with us on the go in podcast form, we’re here on Apple and all the platforms. We’d be honored if you’d take a moment to listen and leave a little review.

It’s OK, Oscar Isaac is going to dance soon.

If you love daring arthouse films and feel like getting totally paranoid and stressed out, A24 is re-releasing three of its defining titles in IMAX: Alex Garland’s “Ex Machina,” Ari Aster’s “Hereditary” and the Safdie brothers’ “Uncut Gems.” They’ll be coming out in large-screen formats over the next couple of months, if you can withstand the giant sight of Adam Sandler’s anxious machinations. Details and tickets are available here.

And in case you missed Hayao Miyazaki’s “The Boy and the Heron” when it first came out, you can catch the newly-minted Oscar winner when it returns to North American theaters starting March 22. The film, which just won the best animated feature prize, supposedly is the last from the Japanese anime master. This is a great opportunity to catch this beautiful and strange work of art on the big screen. Ticket information will be available here.

Did you see the finale of “Feud: Capote vs. The Swans” this week? We’ve been recapping the Ryan Murphy series since the beginning on our Breakfast All Day Patreon, and while we thought the last episode didn’t come close to matching the emotional depth of the previous one, we’re still glad we watched it as a whole. The ensemble cast was terrific, the costume and production design were to die for, and Tom Hollander pulled off the difficult feat of portraying Truman Capote in a way that was poignant and distinct from Philip Seymour Hoffman’s Oscar-winning performance. I’d love to hear your thoughts if you followed along, too.

And speaking of our Patreon, it’s time once again for our monthly Lunch Date. We’ve scheduled it a little sooner than usual so we don’t wait too long to discuss the Oscars, and we’re doing it at a weird time because of appointment juggling. If you’re interested in joining our happy crew, we’re meeting up online at 2pm Pacific on Monday, March 18. If you’re already a patron at the Lunch Date level, great! If you’d like to know more about these intimate, monthly live chats, details are available here. Hope to see you.

Thank you so much for sharing some of your time with me this weekend. I’m so grateful for this community that’s coming together here. If you found value in this and know someone you think would enjoy it, too, I’d appreciate you passing it along. Have a great week and a safe St. Patrick’s Day, and I’ll see you back here next Saturday.
